The model is nearly finished now, I am just about to go and modify the design of the mid section after feedback of it maybe not being able to move very freely.

Heres some sketches of different modifications, I'm leaning towards the bottom design...

Transcription:- Initial Character Ideas

I think the idea of my character actually being the music dock, instead of having headphones on a person dancing to the music, would be quite clever. Ive seen you can get these fun looking docks in the shops.

I have already done a few little sketches of a character before this idea sprung to mind. I wont go off the original idea just yet, I might try to combine the 2; having a hip-hop looking male char dock?

Narrative: Town Concepts

Above is the town concept. I've added the little alley way on the left hand side. I havent added the streetlights yet as I feel they dont really fit well in the scene the way they are atm, I will try and tweak them to make them more fitting.

Decided to also do a design for the alley way

Character Design Week 9: The Stark Tower

Week 9's lesson was all about "setting the scene". I was given two words, "stark tower", in which I had to use to make a scene around

As you can most probably tell from these scribbles of towers, I wasn't too keen on the task. With deadlines looming, and character design class suddenly switching to environments in the last week, I couldnt really focus on the task at hand very well..

Musketeer: Face & Hair Designs

I plan on giving him shoulder length, straight blonde hair, as I think its a bit more ideal in this case, but have still drawn other hair styles just to make sure I make the right decision. I would like him to look majestic, flamboyant and charismatic.

Ninja: Face Expressions

His usual face will be the 3rd one on the right, while the others will be different expressions. I did try and push to make them quite big and exaggerated expressions, but I still think they can go further...

Character Design Class Week 8: Jetpack Jones

Today was a group project based character design lesson. We were given a scenario where we had to create 6 characters, each with their own descriptive paragraph, for a client. For this to work out smoothly the group had to come together to decide on major factors like visual style, era, who would design who, what would the characters be (human, animal, alien).

My job was to design the main character "Jetpack Jones", and the tomboy mechanic "Tessa Brainstorm".

Character Exercise; Week 7

Week 7s exercise was all about creating a animal hybrid creature to suit the given environment. I was given an urban environment, so automatically started implying my knowledge of animals I may see outside such as pigeons, cats, dogs, foxes etc.

The creature had to be adapted to the environment, and so choosing whether it is a predator, prey or a scavenger is very important for it to fit in correctly. Because I had an urban area, scavenger was the best option.

Character Exercise:- Ninja Silhouettes

So today we focused on designing distinct looking characters using ONLY silhouettes. The character should be easily identifiable in terms of faction (whether he is good or evil), type and by what he/she may be holding. I was given a ninja to work with (yay!).

I wasn't quite getting the hang of i, until I incorporated the weight and bagginess of the clothing

As I said, I wasnt getting the whole idea when drawing as I was only drawing a man in ninja-like positions, that was until Justin went on to talk about clothing and how to draw different types of clothing depending on is type and weight.

Demin and leather are more likely to weight more ten silk, so fold in the material are likely to be fewer but larger. Silk is lights so will be very wavy when worn or hung from something.

I had to then experiment with these theories using a cowboy

Focussed more on the trousers a cowboy wears, just to knuckle down on the material exercise. Oh and another ninja silhouette.

Different types of folds used for different materials, as explained

I enjoyed today as I have always HATED drawing material such as denim. It always phased me as to how to draw them (like what direction the materials should flow in, the ruffles on the tighter parts of the body like around the belly and thigh, where it should be heavier and lighter and etc). Today i've learnt about all of those elements and will carry it through to my future designs.
